INTERVIEW: NOROTH & MORTUAL / NEW NOISE MAGAZINE

Head over to NEW NOISE MAGAZINE for an exclusive interview with NOROTH and MÖRTUAL. Both bands break down their upcoming split release, discussing their songwriting process, inspirations and the true meaning behind sharing a split record.

Two bands meet on common ground, bring their respective scenes with them, and dare the listener to flip the record over. That tradition sits at the heart of the new split between Seattle Death Metal outfit NOROTH and San José, Costa Rica’s MÖRTUAL. Due October 30, the record brings together two bands that share a taste for darkness without mistaking similarity for uniformity. “We are very different, to the point where it can be tough to find similarities,” MÖRTUAL’s Justin Sánchez says. “I’d say the dark essence of the music is what connects us the most.” NOROTH’s Biaggo puts it another way: “There’s a darkness in what they do that speaks a different dialect than NOROTH, but comes from the same place.”
