Formed in Milwaukee in 2022 by former members of Pig’s Blood and Carnal Ruin, HORRID MASS channels Death Metal’s most barbaric traits through dissonance, atmosphere and experimentation. Following their 2023 demo Formless Dread, the band returns with their debut full-length, Nauseating Ecstatic Degeneration. The album delivers bleak agonising Death Metal that violently alternates between ferocious speed and martial heaviness. Utilizing jagged transitions and nervous breaks to keep listeners off balance, HORRID MASS builds a suffocating, unstable density. Their sound echoes the cavernous weight of INCANTATION, the subterranean bleakness of KRYPTS, and the militant extremity of TEITANBLOOD, while forging a highly personal language of sonic violence and decay.
